Architectural Considerations for Personal Mobility in the Wireless Internet

چکیده
Personal Mobility, and the need for it, is considered to be the main driving force behind the spreading of the Wireless Internet. Moreover wireless devices and applications are being developed based on a basic assumption that users need to get access to services regardless of their location and used equipment. Wireless Services, on the other hand, are very dynamic and have a vibrant configuration and settings. In order for this to be utilizable a new network architecture is required. In our department we are developing Telecommunication Architecture for Plug-And-play Systems (TAPAS) to be a generic platform and application development environment based on plug-andplay technology, which uses the Web as means for service definition, update and discovery. TAPAS is intended to satisfy three basic classes of properties: Flexible and adaptable, Robust and survivable, and QoS aware. Personal mobility falls into the first class. Aspects of user, application and session mobility are dealt with using different mobility management schemes. The paper discusses trends in the Wireless Internet concerning devices, applications and services, and presents the approach used within TAPAS. Personal mobility in this context is based on the user, terminal and session

Efficient Architecture and Handoff Strategy used for VoIP Sessions in SIP Based Wireless Networks
In the near future, the Internet is likely to become an All-IP network that provides various multimedia services over wireless networks. Although the earliest VoIP applications did not consider the end-node mobility, researchers have attempted to support mobility in current VoIP protocols, such as Session Initial Protocol (SIP)-based mobility. The SIP-based mobility is considered because it can...
متن کاملFast handoff scheme based on mobility prediction in public wireless LAN systems - Communications, IEE Proceedings-
Recently, wireless LAN systems have been widely deployed for public mobile Internet services. Public wireless LAN systems can provide high speed Internet connectivity using portable devices such as laptop computers, personal digital assistants (PDAs), etc. In public wireless LAN systems, reliable user authentication and mobility support are essential issues. However, reauthentication during han...

The Future Internet will be an inherently cyber-physical system, providing native support for many forms of real world interaction, including sensing and actuation. This will place unique requirements on its architectural design, as a vastly heterogeneous set of stake holders tussling to promote business and social opportunities, while addressing technical and incentive barriers. This paper des...
متن کاملWireless communication: the next wave of Internet technology
Wireless technology has many practical applications in business and society. Its mobility allows users to access information any time and from any location. Because users depend on network connections for their personal computers, wireless local area networks (LANs) offer a convenient and cost-effective solution for providing those connections. The continuing development of wireless technology ...
متن کاملSoftware Security Risks in Mobile E-Commerce
Most current e-commerce transactions are conducted by users in fixed locations using workstations and personal computers. Soon, we expect a significant portion of e-commerce will take place via wireless, Internet-enabled devices such as cellular phones and personal digital assistants. Wireless devices provide users mobility to research, communicate, and purchase goods and services from anywhere...
